From Managing Projects to Making a Difference
Our Story
From industry veterans to committed defenders of homeowner Rights
At Home Improvement Consumer Protection, our journey began as a group of passionate project managers with a deep love for the home improvement industry. With years of experience under our belts, we’ve seen firsthand the challenges that homeowners face when embarking on renovation and construction projects. We’ve witnessed the excitement of a dream home coming together, but also the frustrations and pitfalls that can arise when things go wrong.
Our extensive experience in managing projects taught us the importance of trust, transparency, and professionalism in every aspect of home improvement. We believe that every homeowner deserves to feel confident and secure throughout their project, from start to finish. That’s why we made the transition from being project managers to public defenders of homeowners’ rights, creating Home Improvement Consumer Protection as a nonprofit organization to be a force for positive change in the industry.
We established Home Improvement Consumer Protection because we recognized the need for a shift in the way the industry operates. Too often, homeowners are left vulnerable to unfair practices, hidden costs, and subpar workmanship. We knew something had to change, and we wanted to be the ones to make that change happen.
As a nonprofit organization, our mission is simple: to protect homeowners and ensure they receive the highest quality service and value for their investment. We vet contractors rigorously, offer expert guidance, and provide resources to help homeowners make informed decisions. We love what we do, and we’re dedicated to transforming the home improvement industry into one where trust, integrity, and excellence are the standards.
Our Commitment
HICP Puts Homeowners First
A more reliable process for you
HICP was founded to make the home renovation process easier and less stressful for homeowners. The founders realized that finding and hiring a reliable contractor can be challenging - homeowners have to get multiple estimates, verify that estimates are accurate, manage the project, and deal with any issues that come up.
We remove the hassle of hiring.
HICP thoroughly vets and certifies local contractors to ensure they are qualified, licensed, and have good reputations. When a homeowner is ready for a project, HICP schedules a consultation to understand their needs. We then connect them with pre-screened contractors who can provide estimates.
Our Mission
Ensuring project success by safeguarding homeowners and vetting contractors.
We are safeguarding California homeowners from unscrupulous practices in the construction industry and providing access to reputable contractors underlines a dedication to fostering a transparent and supportive home improvement environment.
